After our lunchtime dip in the pool at our hotel in Oia, we grabbed our luggage and hopped on the local city bus. The local buses were only 3.6 euros total for both of us, as compared to the 30-40 euro for a 10 minute taxi ride. There was a bus stop near our next hotel in Firostefani but we had to walk a quarter mile from the bus stop to our hotel, Villa Ilias where we stayed for 2 nights. Our poolside hotel room was small but cozy. However, we didn’t book the hotel for the room. The hotel had an overlook of the caldera from the pool outside of our room and this is why we booked this hotel. Villa Ilias did not fail our expectations, and in fact it blew them away!! We grabbed a chair by the pool over looking the caldera and grabbed some drinks. Barrett as usual made a quick friends with the bartender. Barrett ordered a delicious cocktail and Megan tried some locally made white wine, which was considerably tastier than the greek red wine. The bartender was very cool and even infused his own signature liqueurs which he used to make Barretts’ cocktail! After drinks and a dip in the super cold pool we got dressed and headed out for sunset photos at Skaros Rock. Sunset was epic as usual in Santorini. After sunset we walked about 15 minutes towards Thira, past our hotel, and had an awesome dinner at the Mylos Windmill restaurant.

Our second day was the Sunset Oia Cruise

Our last night in Santorini was spent in a small town called Karterados. We got to our hotel – Maistros Village super early (11am) so our room was not ready, but they did hold our luggage for us. We changed into our swimsuits to hang by the pool while we waited for our room and we each had a beer and a delicious coffee cocktail while we waited on our room. As soon as we got checked in to our room we changed and walked to lunch. A lot of the restaurants were closed due to it being Sunday, I guess, but we did find a small cafe with great food. After lunch we went back and chilled in the hotel room for a while and looked over our photos and videos from the days before. We ventured out again for dinner and drinks. We found an awesome pizzeria called Tabasco, in walking distance. The pizza was spicy but soooo good. We bought a bottle of wine from the mini mart on the way back to the hotel and had a nice, chill night on our balcony.

The next day we left Santorini and traveled to Athens for one more night in Greece before we ventured to Amsterdam! We had amazing views from our hotel of the ruins in Athens. We stayed at the Wyndham in downtown Athens and would highly recommend this hotel, especially the restaurant!  Stay tuned for our next blog – Amsterdam!

  2. Hey – nice blog, just looking about some blogs, appears a fairly good platform you might be making use of. Im currently using WordPress for several of my websites but looking to alter one of them around to a platform similar to yours as a trial run. Something in specific you would recommend about it?
